Our Trip to New York.

Trev travels to New York a lot. His company owns an apartment by Central Park, on 2 Columbus and about 59th and 9th. This month he had me fly out the last part of the week to spend the weekend with him. Our parents watched the kids at home for us. It was my first time to New York, and it was definitely memorable. About 2 hours from the Newark airport a news report came on telling about the crash in the Hudson. Turns out, we could see it out the window of our apartment and they were bring the passengers to a hospital across the street from the apartment. So we were able to all the action up close!

For the most part we did a lot of walking and site seeing. We went to the Empire State Building, Battery Park (to see the Statue of Liberty), we attended a session at the temple, 5th ave, Time and Square, Rock-a-feller center, Wall Street and a ton of other places. We tried lots of fun little cafe's for meals. Trev took me to a popular burger joint. It reminded me of the "Soup Nazzi" from Seinfeld. There wasn't even a real sign for the resturant, but there was a HUGE line just to get in to order, and trying to find a seat was a joke! I took pics of the little sign and the inside. If we weren't walking we were taking the Metro or a Cab. By the end I actualy think I was better than Trev, at figuring out which train to take on the Subway and I definitely could hale a taxi better. But, if you ask him, he will deny it!

Overall we just enjoyed being alone with eachother. The kids missed us, but they survived! Thank you again to awesome parents for watching our kids!

Apparently our house has been nominated as the New Years Eve Party House. We held our "2nd Annual" New Year's Eve Party. We kept it low key, but had tonz of fun. We had our new "Guitar Hero World Tour" set up downstairs on the big screen. Upstairs we had "Dance, Dance" set up and games, toys every where and a movie in another room for all the kids. We played music catch phrase and just hung out. It definitely the funnest New Years yet. Gabe crashed in our room in front of the movie around 10pm, but Ash and Holden made it until midnight. At 12am we gave the kids pots and pans, noise makers and hats and let them walk up and down the street in the freezing cold, screaming, "Happy New Year." Thanks to all of friends for coming, it was great!

Building a Snow Man

I spent hours building a snow man with the kids a couple of days ago. Unfortunately it didn't even last 24 hours. He feel over and died, so Gabe decided to build a replacement in the back yard with BuBa. "Haupa" ended up coming over and helped him finish it.

Holden was hilarious this year. When Santa showed up he followed him around EVERYWHERE! He kept trying to help him hand out presents, and when he finally got his, he kept getting right in his face and telling him, "I got a OO . .OO. . AA. .AA" (monkey). Christmas is so much fun with kids around!

Drake Family Christmas Party 2008

This years party was so much fun! My aunt and uncle, Micki and Dave were good enough to let us use their church, since it is the only place big enough to hold the entire family.

The kids loved playing on the tumbling equipment. Ashlyn was so exhausted by the end of the night she was falling asleep standing. I think just about everyone came, except Marlen and Beth, including my whacked out brother Jeremy and his wife, Tiffany.

We did white elephant gifts and my parents gift won. It was a head, that my brother had sculpted of himself in Jr. High. It doesn't really look like him, but it looked like the Drake men all combined into one. It was creepy!

Overall it was a fun night and everyone seemed to have a good time!
